The IANTD – Advanced Adventurer course is the next step after the first level of certification. It is designed to introduce the diver to more specific and unique domains of scuba diving. At that level, participants already know how to dive, this has been acquired in their first certification like the IANTD – Open Water Diver.
New ways of diving and different activities are introduced in the IANTD – Advanced Adventurer course. It covers more specific subjects such as deep diving, buoyancy mastery, night diving, underwater navigation and much more. This course does not go in-depth on every subject but is more about introducing them. More specialized and complete courses are available. You can take a look at our IANTD Diving Specialties page
The structure of the IANTD – Advanced Adventurer course
The course is composed of two or maybe three parts. First the theory, then the confined water practice in the pool if the course option requires it. And at last, the fun part with dives taking place in the ocean at some of the best dive sites on the West coast of Thailand.
Theory relative to the different topics and activities in scuba diving
The academic part of the course covers some extra knowledge specific to an environment, a specialized piece of gear as well as new procedures and techniques. Some course will flavor more theory as other will be more practical but are all complement to the basic of diving.
Dives in the ocean
This is where most of the IANTD – Advanced Adventurer course takes place. Diving in a natural environment gives the chance to the diver to put into action what has been learned in the theory and with the instructor. Navigation, buoyancy, identification cannot be done in a pool.
Pool sessions and workshops
These sessions and workshops are not required for most of the options of the course. If it is required, the instructor will make sure to inform you from the beginning and will conduct them prior to open water training dives.
